It’s a.....
In March of 2020, we are having a double blessing of TWO BOYS!
The entire story encompassing this whole thing is long, so I will give you a few snippets, but it is so truly amazing to me.
My husband told me the other day that he often feels like he gets an extra blessing of favor because he thinks that God just loves me so much and he gets to be a part of that, but the funny thing is, I often think the exact same thing about him!
He used to joke with his high school BFF that someday he was going to have twins, clearly probably not even realizing his prophesy would one day come true. Travis grew up with an incredible Dad, was always very close with his brother and they were always doing very manly things.
Evidence in this picture of Travis in diapers already armed.
For this reason alone, I think it’s so cool that he is gifted with two boys! On top of that, these two boys will be the only ones in Travis’ family that carry on the Conover name sake. Speaking of names...
Travis and I had just learned of a way to ask our bodies for feedback and determine things (like the sex of the baby) and when we first discovered the pregnancy, we wanted to know the gender. Personally I have gone both ways and feel much more connected to the baby I’m carrying for 9 months when I have this information. The one baby I didn’t know the gender, even after he was born, I often referred to him as “it” out of habit. So, we knew that I was carrying a boy from the beginning this time. I told Travis that if we ever had a boy, I wanted to name him Brant, which was his middle name, his Father’s name, and a special family namesake.
Just a few days after we found out about the pregnancy, and had told no one, while at church, two different groups of people randomly came up to us asking to pray for us, feeling like God had something special for us. The first older couple at the beginning of service relayed a message about a powerful, influential lineage we would have. The second time, a girlfriend approached us after and said sometimes in her life she hears God speaking so loud and clear and this was one of those times. She said she had been having dreams about us for weeks and every time she sees us that God highlights the word JOSEPH over our heads. She then went into this whole message of how God is going to bring give us a son who will carry a “Joseph” anointing and told us of many miraculous things that would be brought about by his life. Many of these things mirrored what the older couple had told us just an hour our so before.
Travis and I were so shocked and kept glancing at each other. This girl was clearly seeing our reaction and kind of back pedaling saying that maybe this wasn’t a message for right now, but maybe something that will happen in the future but she felt she was to tell us now. We just finally broke down and told her that we literally had just discovered we were pregnant and hadn’t told anyone and she started crying.
What is incredible is, we had planned to name the boy Brant after the famous Chief Joseph Brant of the Mohawk Indian tribe, whom Travis is a direct descendant of and also named after. You just can’t make this stuff up! I find it just like God to bring messages of comfort and inspiration during this time because, honestly, I was very nervous about being pregnant because of my more recent history. This is just one story of several incidences like this that happened within the first week of us finding out we were with child.
I am not a big fan of ultrasounds and would’ve preferred not to have one, but we chose to have one because of my medical history. We needed to make sure the placentas were in a place where it would be safe to birth the way that we desire. We would have been excited regardless of the genders, but when Travis heard that they were both boys, he was so OVERJOYED and happened to be reading about the life of Joseph in the Bible and showed me the scripture that said Joseph was the 11th child of Abraham!
We felt like this sealed the deal that these two boys, which would be the 10th and 11th children I will have birthed, would be named Brant and Joseph.
If you happen to be pregnant and want to know the gender of the child, an alternative to getting an ultrasound is a test you can take called Sneak Peek. I would highly recommend that over an ultrasound.
We do not know if these boys are identical but they have two separate sacks and two separate placentas, just like the set of identical twins I was pregnant with at age 18. The other children are SUPER excited, especially our youngest boy Aaron, who reminds us that now the boys will finally “win,” outnumbering the girls 😁
Congratulations so excited for the two of you. You two are blessed.
Shannon 2020 is a year of Double Portions of Blessings!!! But I want to say all along when I heard you were having twins, I had a thought they were boys!!! Not sure why I had that thought, but I did. Congratulations to an AMAZING Couple
