Let me share with you the recipe for our favorite fun, blue summertime drink!
It’s really important to replenish electrolytes and keep potassium and other minerals in balance, especially during the summer months when we are all outside, very active and sweating a lot more than usual.
We really try not to ingest anything with artificial flavors and colorings, which most electrolyte drinks contain. Food colorings, while seemingly harmless in small quantities, are linked to health issues like hyperactivity and can cause cancer. (Source) I personally believe all those “small quantities” add up.
I’m also always looking for ways to sneak in added nutrients into our daily lives, so this recipe is a win win. It’s boasts great liver support with the fresh lemon juice and maple syrup and is loaded with vitamins, minerals and even hormone support with the Spirulina blend.
Recipe:
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 cup maple syrup
3 scoops blue Spirulina
2 gallons of purified water
(If you prefer a less energizing, caffeine free Spirulina blend, we love this one)
